David, there are hair dryers built onto big metal chairs at hair salons, so I’d say those are not portable.
This one is just like the one my Grandma had in the early 1970s. You put it over your head and sit under it while you do your nails or something. I like that it provides gentle heat from all sides of your head simultaneously, and that you don’t have to hold it.
And the way it boops and tweets is really cute, too! (uh, kidding, it just sounds like a vacuum cleaner)
cool. my mum had one in 70s too but it was more like a heavy shower cap with a tube in it. I remember when we were kids we used to put our hair in her big curlers and put the heater cap on like we’d seen in the movies. it had a cute little case for it.
