Awhile back we had one of those days so rare in the Sonoran desert, the kind where it rains lightly all day long. Those are the days when it seems like father sky is at his most tender, lingering for long slow kisses with mother earth. These special days are infused with an extra vividness of color, like when you find a rock in the riverbed that looks so beautiful in the water. When it’s dry, the colors lose depth, and when wet, they shine. I love days like these.

I shot this footage on Friday, February 15 and am just getting around to posting it. I’m so glad that with video, it’s never too late to share a beautiful day.

Of course, you always expect Arizona to be scorched. And then comes the rain. And the colour changes. And the it looks like somewhere else. And we can almost smell the sweetness of the rain. Beautifully shot, and perfect soundtrack.

you know i love little shots put together.
(by the way, did you purposely add the minute of black at the end of the video?)

  3. Cheryl Colan Says:

Arrgh. No, I did not mean to leave black at the end. I thought I had removed it. I’ll fix that and replace in my post. Thanks for asking.

    Pouring down!

My first stop over here - and wow, I loved that video.
I noticed the black at the end and then the last bit of sound - actually no need to fix it…worked for me~!

    Wonderful

(and the black still needs fixing. makes it look like the post is going to be 15 minutes long!)

Cheryl…this was beautiful. The music, bits of landscape, vehicles, people…all in the rain. Very nice. Passing it on to family back in Kansas to show proof that it does rain in the desert, hee hee.

  8. Cheryl Colan Says:

    Thanks everyone!

I have now fixed the black and replaced the video, which unfortunately reset the view count. But according to Blip.tv the video had been viewed 76 times up to this point, so the new count above can be added to that number. This is mainly for my own reference.

this was worth the wait, finally got to see it. Amazing colors, great soundtrack, lovely shots in there. The world looks so much more ALIVE in/after the rain. Reflections, movement, specularity. Beautiful.
