The Queue
For awhile, I fed two neighborhood cats. “White Kitty,” the one appearing second in this video, and “Silver,” a kitten I caught and had neutered, then re-released. Silver was carried away by a bird of prey, probably a hawk. A few new cats have turned up to take his place, but White Kitty is still the Queen in our yard. So a little queue has formed around feeding time. I hope I eventually gain these new cats’ trust so I can whisk them to the vet and make sure they’re healthy, and not reproducing more strays.
Name suggestions are welcome, by the way. I don’t think “Fraidy Cat” is fond of the moniker, and “Ring-Tail White Kitty” is just not a name. Not at all.

Why people let cats roam free outside is beyond me. People dont let their 4 year old kids roam around neighborhoods.

Damn, David. It’s not like they’re MY cats. They’re semi-feral strays.
One came with my house and I promised the seller I’d feed it. But it wouldn’t come near people and was too smart to be caught. That’s the white one. It took four years for her to trust us enough to let us pet her. Now I can pick her up, but only for a second. But it’s enough that I can get hold of her if she’s hurt or needs help.
The others have shown up over time. Usually they run away when they see people, but I’ve slowly befriended them enough to where they stick around when I come outside. I feed them. The goal is to catch them and get them to the vet, so they can be neutered and checked for disease and given vaccinations. I can’t take them in because of my allergies.
Should I not help them at all? Should I shoot them or something?

I wasnt saying that you abandoned them.
I never said they were your cats.
I never suggested that you should do anything.

Sorry, David, I misunderstood. There’s a lot of that going around. I apologize. But I’m not naming them after food! That’s just wrong. May as well name them Dogmeat and Roadkill. Ha! I agree, whoever just quits taking care of their pets deserves to have to live outside 24/7 too.

I feel so bad for fraidy cat.
What a nice slice of cute-feraldom, Cheryl, a delight to see.
