Some time ago, Rupert Howe requested we all go out and make a little video showing something we see every day. I meant to but never did it. So for day five of NaVloPoMo I decided to show you something that I’ve seen nearly every day since birth. I feel incomplete when I don’t see it, like when I travel. It’s like missing part of my own body when it’s not around. I get extremely annoyed whenever some corporation erects a building that blocks it from view.

Cheers, everyone! Keep the posts coming!

Wow…great view. And beautiful mountain. Glad you didn’t crash.

All this is very inspiring. Day five already! Haven’t a clue what I will film today. Tis part of the fun and part of the terror…I think.

I’m such a transient that there isn’t a place or a view that I have seen most days of my life. There are sights that let me know I’m in a place, but no sights that let me know I’m home, certainly not that would make me feel like I am missing part of my body. It’s nice to be able to see what Phoenix looks like too. Obviously, a lot of vlogs are filmed indoors which removes the geographical differences of where vloggers live, but seeing those palm trees reminded me that, ‘oh, Cheryl’s in Phoenix’.

Wow is that lovely and WOW stop vlogging and driving at the same time, lady!!!

  4. Cheryl Colan Says:

But, Miss B, I’ve been driving longer than you have… I can do it really! (No, you’re right - it can be distracting.)

  5. missb Says:

Dude, after two months I can finally scratch my nose or lower the sun visor while driving! Who knows how how many years it will take till I can vlog and drive! I’m going to need a tripod with a suction cup…

I used to live near Pima & Thomas, and a friend and I used to meet a couple times a week before work to run up Camelback just in time to watch dawn over the Superstitions. I miss Camelback.

i love the idea of showing things that we see every day!
yes i’m sure i’ll do that several times this month!!

  8. Jen Simmons Says:

Why is it called Camelback mountain when it’s the whole camel? It’s not just the back. It should be called Camel mountain. Or The Whole Camel mountain.

  9. Cheryl Colan Says:

It’s not really the whole camel, Jen, it’s missing the legs and tail. It’s just the head and back of the camel. But it probably should not be called Camelback Mountain at all. The native tribes that lived here before the white guy with visions of camels in his head when he put the mountain on a map probably had a very nice name for the mountain.

So today, I was sitting out having a cigarette on my break at work thinking “OK, You have the stuff. What are you going to do with it?” My first thought was film what you know. Film what you see every day! Then I come home and look at this blog entry. I thought “Wow, is this cool or what?” I was thinking the same thing other people are thinking. OK. I guess that means I am not all that crazy! Thanks for the validation.

    Cool! Thank you!
I love that this is so familiar to you, and so unfamiliar to me. Like the workspaces.
And I love that it never occurred to me when I pictured Phoenix in my mind that there’d be mountains all around.
